The average jalapeno lies somewhere between 2,500 to 8,000 SHU. For comparison, an average green chili scores between 2000 to 5000 SHU. Ghost peppers score a remarkable 855,000 to 1,041,427 Scoville Heat Units ( SHU). Keep in mind, both these peppers have held the Guinness World Record for being the hottest chili in the world.
